About Emerson Personnel Group - A Family History

There is a definite theme running through the business communities of South Jersey and Philadelphia. Simply walk into any company and ask the question: Has anyone here ever worked as a temporary employee or been placed in a permanent position through Emerson Personnel Group? The chances are excellent that at least one person, and maybe more, will raise their hand, and, if not, someone will know someone else who has. This is not surprising since the Emerson family has owned and operated the company for over forty years. A conservative estimate puts the number of people they have put to work at over 40,000. 1971, Skip and Annette Emerson purchase a Dunhill Personnel franchise and immediately set out to become leaders in the staffing industry in South Jersey and Philadelphia. The Emerson’s and Dunhill of Cherry Hill quickly become one of the areas most recognized recruiting firms for administrative support personnel.

1975

Skip and Annette become one of the first franchisee’s to introduce temporary staffing to the Dunhill system.

1976 – 1989

Growth accelerates significantly and the once small family operation consistently leads the nation’s franchise system in revenue generated.

1990

A second generation of the Emerson family joins the business when Bill Emerson is hired as an Executive Recruiter.

1992

The best staffing specialist in the region, Denise Tocco, joins the team.

1998

Annette retires and Skip begins to transition away from the day to day operations. Bill steps in as President.

2000

The family presence in the business grows when Steve Emerson and his wife Mary Emerson join the business. Steve focuses his responsibilities on business development and Mary takes over as office manager.

2001

The Emerson family decides it is time to become independent from the franchise and Dunhill of Cherry Hill becomes Emerson Personnel Group.

2008

Emerson recruits industry sales veteran Flo Ryan to lead sales team.

2001 – Present

Emerson Personnel Group establishes the new brand and continues to be recognized as one of the premier staffing and recruiting firms in the Greater Philadelphia region.
